This is Evelyn. She’s started up a Steampunk themed performance art troupe and today I had a great time taking some photographs for them. I know most of the people in the group and have seen them in other local performances, so I’m confident they’ll be great!

I’ve also got to add that this particular shot was definitely not an easy one! First, there was all the work that Evelyn had to do for being in costume and holding that pose! And for me, I’m really used to headshot or upper body portrait lighting, so I really had to step outside my usual skill level for lighting this. Plus, there was the issue of the background. I’ve got a pretty good sized black backdrop (about 10′ x 12′), but for this pose, position and the angle I had to shoot at, even it couldn’t completely cover the background. Which meant that a decent amount of photoshop had to be done to clean it up in places.

Fortunately, I think it was all totally worth it.
