June 28th Photowalk [2005]

Collage of 10 photos from photowalk

Photo-a-Day: Year 6, Day 179 – Total Days: 2,005

Today I made sure to get in some good quality time with my new Canon 6D (see my first impressions here) by doing a nice little photowalk around the neighborhood. I ended up choosing 10 photos I liked and that I knew I’d display here, but when it came time to pick just one of them to be the official Photo of the Day, I got stuck…

Then it hit me, why not make a collage/polyptych that featured all 10 photos? It’d be a fun Photoshop exercise and then I could have a Photo of the Day that encompassed the entirety of the photowalk. A perfect solution to my dilemma!

Of course, I’m not just going to leave you with these tiny slivers. The full photos for each part are shown below. I had a great time creating them, and it gave me a wonderful opportunity to really start working with my new 6D and seeing the benefits of having a full-frame camera now.

Gotta love the Agapanthus, probably my favorite flower. Doesn’t hurt that it’s one of the few I actually know the name of ;-)

Speaking of flower names, anybody know what the flower below is called? If so, could you please post it in the comments? Thanks!

With my 50D, I was starting to perceive a bit of “graininess” that was bothering me. Things just weren’t quite as smooth as some of the work of other photographers I like to follow. And while a large part of that is certainly due to the limitations of my own photography-taking and processing skills, I had still figured that maybe it was time to step up to a better camera sensor.

And the 6D does not disappoint! I’m just loving it. Especially paired with the 16-35mm f/2.8L lens – that is now finally getting to be used to its full-potential.

More Agapanthus!

Yep, another flower I don’t know the name of…

Every neighborhood’s gotta have one of these somewhere, right?

It was very tempting to go climb on that rope ladder…

Well, thanks for reading and looking. Hope you enjoyed the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!
