This weird little thing in my hand is “The Blerch”. It’s the creation of cartoonist Matthew Inman, a.k.a. “The Oatmeal”. Much like me, Matthew is a runner. Except he’s a bit more advanced than I, in that he’s what’s known as an Ultra-runner. Ulta-runs are technically anything over the marathon distance, but they’re typically in the 50 or 100 mile range. Pretty extreme, eh?

I don’t usually eat at McDonald’s, but when I do, I’ve got my camera and there’s interesting light.

Driving home from a haircut this evening, when I stopped at an intersection and enjoyed the light from the Splash Cafe across the street. Fortunately, I had my X100S in the passenger seat, so it was easy enough to quickly grab it, flip the switch and fire off a shot. Added bonus, the exposure settings from yesterday night worked pretty well for this one.

I have been thoroughly enjoying the new Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. I’ve been running a game for over a month now and even though I started before the Player’s Handbook was actually out (been running the Starter Set) it’s so nice to actually have the PH. It’s a really fantastic book, with production values that are second-to-none.
For this photo, I used the Fuji X100S’s “Toy Camera” processing mode, which was extra fun.

Today was the Central Coast Cancer Challenge Race. I did the 10K and managed a personal record, coming in at 56:07. It was a great race for a great cause.
And just look at that awesome sea of runners at the start line!

The interesting thing about doing lots of photography is the way you start to notice light a lot more. Like the way the sunlight was coming down and hitting this flyer so perfectly. And the brick wall was such a fun texture as well.
Taken at The Sal Paradise sandwich shop in downtown San Luis Obispo.
