City to the Sea Packet Pick-Up Day [Day 2110]

Today was race packet pick-up for the City to the Sea Half Marathon. Tomorrow morning I’ll be up bright and early, er, I mean, dark and early, so that I can run from Downtown San Luis Obispo all the way to Pismo Beach. That’s 13.1 miles of running, and I’m absolutely looking forward to it! It’ll be my second time doing City to the Sea and my fifth half-marathon. Can’t wait! :-D

Cayucos Pier Closure [Day 2109]

It’s a shame that Cayucos Pier is currently closed due to being in disrepair. I’ve read that they’ve managed to get the funds for the repair to happen and it should be starting soon! Creating photo of the day often involves taking many photos, as I frequently start off with no idea of what I want to use as the subject. Sometimes I just pick an area and start looking around and taking shots to see what appeals to me. Today, I had whittled it down to three images and was having a tough time picking the official one. Ultimately, this detail shot of a rather weathered generator won, largely because my other two candidates were subjects I’ve used before, whereas I don’t believe I’ve ever featured this generator (even though it’s off to the side of my driveway).

A foggy morning in SLO lends itself towards somewhat surreal imagery. Also, I’ve got to add that I just love how many trees this town has. From some vantage points, you can barely even see the buildings!

I had heard some good things about the HBO series True Detective and so last weekend I finally got around to checking it out (thank you HBO GO app!)

I rather liked how the light on this worked out – with the flower pot standing out very nicely from the fence. Plus, it was a nice test of using a really high ISO on the 6D. Impressive low-light performance on this thing.
