A friend of mine runs his own business, Argent Data Systems, and I was over at his shop today helping him out with a giant order he recently received. While there, I noticed that he’s got one of the greatest warning signs I’ve ever seen. I mean, that’s some serious danger, right there. I probably should have worn a helmet or something.

D&D [Day 2028]

I may be a photographer, but I’m also a total geek on the side. Yep, I’ve been known to play some Dungeons and Dragons on occasion. It’s been awhile though. But with the new 5th Edition coming out this year, I’ve just had to check it out. Picked up the new boxed Starter Set last week and was able to start running a game this evening for some friends.

A day at the Renaissance Faire can be quite exhausting – as demonstrated by Rick and his daughter, Mary.

(It was amusing just how many people in the Hound’s Haven guild came up to me and pointed out this scene in order to make sure I got the shot. So Rick, if you’re pissed that there’s photographic evidence of you sleeping on the job, it’s all the guild’s fault! But of course, if you like the photo, I’ll take all the credit ;-)

Diego’s Umbrella [Day 2025]

Went to the Concerts in the Plaza today where Diego’s Umbrella was playing, and it was packed! Clearly a very popular band. Made it much harder to get up close to grab a few shots, but I gave it a solid effort. One downside to my new 6D though is that it doesn’t work with my 250mm zoom. It’s the one lens I have that’s a smaller EF-S mount and the 6D is so fancy it only works with EF mount lenses. This means I can’t zoom in as much as I might like. Oh well… It’s good to practice shooting with a different style, but I’ll still definitely need to get a long zoom for this new camera.

As for the band, I was a little miffed that they had no umbrellas. Kinda doubt that anyone is even named Diego… Good music though! Gypsy rock they call it, and yes, that’s an apt description. Plenty of fun — I see why so many of my friends are big fans.

Tiffany [Day 2023]

Last week I had the great honor of photographing Lauren and Joe’s new daughter, Tiffany, which I did on location over at their place. But today was extra cool because Lauren and Tiffany came over to my place where I could use the studio for a shoot with them. I love getting to use my off-camera flash setup and to have a plain backdrop to work with.

It was nice to wake up rather early and instead of going back to bed for a change, deciding to get up and go out for a quick photowalk. The morning was lovely! So calm, with birds singing, an incredibly comfortable temperature, and some lovely light striking the clouds.

And as an added bonus, I’m now done with today’s photo before 7:30 am! I think it’s time to reward myself with some breakfast and coffee.
