This is from a telephone pole that caught my eye this evening. I just love the wood grain and the texture of the numbers. But what do the numbers mean? Is it an identifier for the pole? Seems like that would make sense… Will have to remember to take a look at other poles to check for similar numbers to confirm.

Apple Music [Day 2373]

I’m one of those old fogies that still likes to buy my music on CD a lot (and yes, even vinyl!) although I have done plenty of purchases through Apple’s iTunes music store thanks to the convenience. But I still haven’t really gotten into subscription services like Spotify yet. Apple’s new Music service has me rather intrigued though, so I’ve got the three month trial and am definitely digging into it. Seems like it’s got a lot of promise.

Catching up!

Last week, in honor of my birthday, I went on a week-long trip to Disneyland! It was exhausting but glorious. Not to mention full of photo opportunities.

Thanks to some truly terrible internet connectivity at the hotel, it was excruciatingly slow to try to upload photos. I kept my photo-a-day project up-to-date on Flickr, but trying to also do it on the blog was just too terrible — especially after being at the park all day and just wanting to get to sleep. But now that I’m back, have good internet again and am mostly caught up on things, I’m finally getting the blog back up to date.

I figured I’d just incorporate all of the photos of the day that have been missing from the blog into one post, for the sake of expediency.

First, let’s start off with the three from days spent at Disneyland.

One interesting aspect of the trip is that we decided to take the train instead of driving. It was very nice to avoid the Los Angeles traffic and the train station was a pretty cool looking building, as you can see from Friday’s photo.

On Monday night, I played a game of Lords of Waterdeep, one of the Dungeons & Dragons board-games. Had heard good things about it, and it did not disappoint! Was pretty easy to learn the rules and doesn’t last too long. Plus, I even won, so that was nice :-)

Last night was a wonderful, warm summer evening, which just begged for having dinner outside at Novo’s magnificent outdoor patio overlooking the creek in downtown SLO. Took a quick iPhone shot of some items on the dinner table.

While it was a wonderful vacation and many busy days afterward, it does feel good to have a night mostly free where I could finally get caught up on the blog.

Anaheim Gardenwalk [Day 2364]

I’m in Anaheim for the week so that I can spend three days in Disneyland for my birthday! Today involved a train ride, swimming in the pool, going to The Cheesecake Factory, and a nice leisurely walk through a new shopping area. Tomorrow: Disneyland!

On the plus side, when you find a broken mirror lying on the sidewalk, you get the opportunity to take a photograph like this without needing to incur seven years of bad luck :-)
