Huh… So apparently, if you want to work at the Von’s bakery, you have to be really attractive. Is that even legal?
Marianne Talley Fun Run

This morning I was up bright and early to run the Marianne Talley Fun Run 10K at Talley Vineyards. It’s my first event since the SLO Marathon near the end of April, and the longest distance run since then. I’ve only had a couple of 2 or 3 mile runs as I’ve been recovering from the marathon, and it was nice to get back into something a bit longer.
It was a very pretty run through the vineyards, although the route was rather winding. Also, it was hot, which made it a bit of a slog. But still, very beautiful as you can see.
Time was 1:07:25, which I consider perfectly respectable given the light activity I’ve had over the past month. But now, I officially declare my recovery over and am back to doing more training again!
And as I was leaving, I spotted this pretty sweet ride. Just had to stop and grab a photo.

My friends, Igor and Ash, were in an absolutely fantastic performance today — Eventyr: Ivy’s Magical Adventure. It was a show that featured aerial silks, aerial hoop, acrobatics, juggling and more in a cirque style performance put on by Suspended Motion Aerial Arts Academy. So glad I was able to see it and I’m looking forward to seeing whatever they do again in the future!
Here’s a a quick shot I got of them with my iPhone after the show.

No wonder the carpet is always covered in dog hair…

Yes, I’ll admit it: it’s the red glowy bits that really make me enjoy my Diablo III headphones…

Something I love about photography is how it can freeze time. Yet even so, some days still just go by so fast…
around the world [Day 2344]

One of the local bars, Spike’s, has this “Around the World” beer system. You get a card with 40 different spots on it, to coincide with the 40 different beers from all around the world that they have available. For each one, you get a mark on the card. After filling up the card, you’ve gone “Around the World” and you get a T-Shirt, they announce it throughout the bar, and you get to sign the journal.
Tonight, my friend Amy finished up a card that she had started back in 1993. It’s pretty impressive that she’d managed to keep the card for that long! It was a momentous occasion, and here’s a shot of what she had to say in the journal.
Bonus shot of the card itself. Looks like it’s been Around the World too!

Had a tricky time deciding between two photos today for which should be the official photo of the day. Ultimately decided that the leaves were just a bit more interesting to me, especially due to the background. And besides, I’ve already had tons of rose photos.

brewing [Day 2342]

Thanks to a long series of events that started last night, I ended up going over to Filipponi Ranch Cellers today for some wine tasting and to see a friend start brewing up a batch of beer. I got to learn much more about the process and checked out some of the raw ingredients. In the shot below, we see the malt being added in.
And here are the hops:
And since this was all happening at a winery, I figured I shouldn’t let the beer steal the show — here are some of the wine barrels:

My work, Experts Exchange, was one of the sponsors for a pretty cool local event this evening: the SLO County Bike Coalition’s Bikes and Beauty Fashion Show. It was held downtown at the headquarter’s for iFixit, which has a pretty cool building. Great event, and so glad that we were a sponsor for it!
