Newborn Photoshoot – Tiffany

Had a wonderful opportunity to photograph a newborn earlier this week! Meet Tiffany, daughter to my friends, Lauren and Joe, whose wedding I had the honor of shooting last year. All throughout Lauren’s pregnancy, she’s come by once every few weeks to get a maternity progress photo done, which was a great project, and so it’s very nice to finally get to meet Tiffany. She just turned three weeks old today!

My friend, Brian (who’s got a great first name, BTW), came over this evening for a quick professional-style portrait shoot. This one here was a warm up shot, and while I don’t think it’ll serve for his intended purpose, it’s pretty fun and probably one of my favorites from the shoot. Just goes to show that zany can often work pretty well :-)
Comment Spam of the Week

One of the more “entertaining” aspects of having a blog is the comment spam. When I first launched the site, I left off any sort of spam catching system because I just wanted to see what happened and how soon spam might start appearing. At first, it was pretty clear. Last week, there was a slight trickle. But then, starting about this past Sunday, the deluge finally hit.

When in doubt, take a picture of something metal and rusty. Always a sure-fire winner.

Last year, I had the honor of shooting Lauren and Joe’s wedding. And now, I’ve got the honor of photographing their new daughter, Tiffany! She’s just under three weeks old and the shoot was very interesting. I’ve got very little experience photographing newborns, so it’s nice to have a friend’s to practice on :-D

Hello! One of the major points of this blog will be to share some of the things I’m learning as I go through the process of creating and improving it. I just recently added a new feature — the ability for posts to have “Next Post” and “Previous Post” navigation links at the bottom — and I figured that it might be helpful to someone out there if I explained how it’s done. Plus, someone might even have a better way that they could share ;-)

I was at a kid’s birthday party today and ran into my friend Rick and his daughter Mary. Shooting children (oy, that’s a bad phrase when taken out of context) can be pretty tricky. They don’t hold still and often don’t want to look into the camera, but when it works out, it tends to be extra cute. Like when Mary here had a great smile for me!

Several years ago I bought a pair of blue Converse All-Stars shoes. I soon followed that up by getting a pair of red ones. And ever since then, every 4th of July, I mismatch them in order to get into the Independence Day spirit. It’s always great fun when someone notices them — almost always bring a laugh or a smile.
Happy 4th of July!
